People often ask if the November birthstone is citrine or topaz, and the answer is both.  Citrine is a transparent yellow to brownish orange and is a variety of quartz.  Citrine does have a shared history of  mistaken  identity with topaz, which can come  in a variety of of rainbow colours.  Both topaz and citrine are thought to have very similar energies to the wearer; calm, warmth and they are both also said to bring good fortune too.
